Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation

The Renewed Hope Agricultural Mechanisation Programme is bringing tractors and modern farm equipment to Nigerian farmers, reducing hard labour and helping them plant and harvest on time.

The programme was formally launched in June 2025 at the National Agricultural Seeds Council in Sheda, Abuja, where tractors and implements were commissioned for deployment across the country.

Equipment delivered through a service model

The machinery is deployed through service providers, an approach designed for Nigeria's smallholder farmers. Instead of each farmer needing to buy and maintain an expensive tractor, farmers can hire mechanised services when they need them: for land preparation, planting and harvest.

This model makes modern farming accessible to the millions of smallholders who produce most of Nigeria's food. Trained operators and service arrangements accompany the equipment, keeping machinery productive throughout the farming cycle.

From commissioning to farms across Nigeria

The commissioning in Sheda delivered a fleet of tractors and implements ready for nationwide deployment. Service centres are bringing the equipment within reach of farming communities across the federation.

Faster, more productive farming

Mechanisation means farm operations happen at the right time and with far less manual labour. Farmers can cultivate more land, meet planting windows and reduce losses at harvest.

Working alongside the administration's input support, irrigation and fertiliser programmes, mechanisation strengthens Nigeria's food production and raises the incomes of farming households. It is a central part of the Tinubu administration's commitment to food security.
