Cookies & Session Information
Essential operation
Authenticated workspaces use session information to recognise users and protect access. Security controls may use cookies or browser storage to protect requests. Removing site data can sign you out or interrupt a form.
Public browsing
Directory filters and pagination do not need browser address parameters. Form and upload state may be held temporarily while you use a page. Closing or resetting it can discard unfinished work.
Third parties
Maps and external websites operate under their own cookie notices. Browser controls allow you to review and remove stored site data. Read the Privacy Notice for information about reports and accounts.
Authentication and security storage
Staff sign-in relies on session controls so that the service can recognise an authenticated request. Security-related state may also be used during account activation, password recovery or a multi-factor challenge. These functions are distinct from advertising or audience profiling. Clearing cookies during an authentication flow can invalidate it and require a fresh sign-in or recovery request.
Form state and local preferences
A browser may hold unfinished form values, upload progress, display preferences or other short-lived state while a page is open. This is not the same as a completed submission in the database. A confirmation from the service is the evidence that a report or enquiry has been received. Do not rely on an open tab as your only record of an important reference number.
Optional measurement
The platform has configurable analytics settings. Optional measurement should be assessed and disclosed before it is enabled, including any consent required for the intended deployment. This notice does not claim that an advertising tracker is active merely because a configuration field exists. The privacy notice and any consent controls should reflect the actual services deployed.
Links and media
Opening a map, external source or third-party website transfers your browsing to that provider. Its storage and privacy practices are outside this site's control. Public campaign media is delivered through the platform's media service; private attachments use authorised, time-limited access and should not be treated as permanent public links.
Managing your browser
Most browsers let you inspect site data, block storage or remove cookies for a particular site. Restrictive settings may affect authentication or unfinished forms. Shared-device users should sign out after using staff workspaces and avoid saving credentials on a device they do not control. For a question about a particular cookie or storage entry, send its name and the affected page through the contact channel, without sharing session values or access tokens.
