The Tinubu administration is securing fertiliser supply for Nigerian agriculture and delivering locally produced inputs to smallholder farmers through targeted programmes.

Domestic blending and planned support for smallholders connect agricultural policy directly to the decisions farmers make at planting time.

From raw materials to the farm

The fertiliser programme combines procurement of raw materials, local blending and distribution to farmers. The Presidential Fertiliser Initiative operates under the Ministry of Finance Incorporated, MOFI, while the National Agricultural Development Fund implements the Renewed Hope Farm Input Support Programme.

The 2026 input-support update sets out how the administration secured raw materials, coordinated supply and protected domestic blending plants from disruption. It also reports the distribution of locally produced fertiliser to participating farming communities through the farm-input programme.

Protecting domestic production

Keeping Nigerian blending plants supplied and working protects local jobs and reduces dependence on imported finished fertiliser. It keeps inputs available within the country when farmers need them most.

Inputs on time for planting

The value of fertiliser lies in reaching farmers before the planting season. The programme's supply chain, from secured materials through blending, transport and distribution, is organised to deliver inputs to smallholders in time for them to prepare their fields.

This support works alongside the administration's mechanisation, irrigation and dry-season farming programmes. Together they strengthen farm productivity, protect farming livelihoods and advance the national goal of food security.
