The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme links graduates with host organisations for work experience.

Work placements offer a route to practical skills and professional exposure. The programme predates this administration and is presented as a continuing opportunity, not as newly created by President Tinubu.

Selection and placement depend on the programme’s requirements and available hosts.

Work experience for emerging professionals

The Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme connects graduates with host organisations for paid professional placements. The Federal Government leads the programme with European Union support and implementation by UNDP. It addresses the difficulty of moving from a qualification into meaningful workplace experience.

The renewed programme phase was flagged off in October 2025. This is a continuation and expansion of an initiative that began before the Tinubu administration. The current administration’s contribution should therefore be described through the delivery of this phase, rather than attributing the programme’s entire history to it.

What a placement provides

A fellowship gives a participant an opportunity to apply knowledge in an organisation, develop professional habits and build experience relevant to future work. Host organisations have a role in providing a useful assignment and an appropriate learning environment.

The programme’s cumulative placement record and its planned expansion are different measures. A target for future fellows is not a completed placement, and a placement is not a guarantee of permanent employment. The public value rests in the quality and reach of the experience provided.
