Digital access allows youth-development opportunities to reach beyond a single training venue. NiYA brings learning and enterprise support into one programme identity.

Participation does not guarantee a job or grant. Applicants should follow the Academy’s current programme terms.

Skills, enterprise and civic participation

The Nigerian Youth Academy was launched in Abuja in March 2025, with Vice President Kashim Shettima representing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The initiative brings together skills development, economic participation and leadership opportunities under the Federal Ministry of Youth Development.

Its scope includes digital literacy, technical skills, entrepreneurship and creative-industry training. Leadership and civic engagement form another part of the programme, reflecting an aim to equip young people for community participation as well as work.

A platform for opportunity

NiYA is designed to connect learning with practical routes into enterprise and professional development. The launch set an ambitious training agenda, but projected future reach is not a count of completed training or jobs already created.

For prospective participants, the useful questions concern the available learning pathway, its requirements and the support attached to it. Participation should be followed through to completion and practical application. This record recognises the academy’s launch and programme design without presenting its long-term ambitions as achieved outcomes.
