The TVET initiative is funding practical skills training, with payments already made to trainees and training centres across Nigeria.
The Technical and Vocational Education and Training initiative is equipping Nigerians with practical skills for trades, services and enterprise, with direct financial support to trainees and the centres that train them.
In December 2025 the programme paid its first tranche of support to trainees and participating training centres. It links national skills policy to skilled trades, small business and productive work.
Practical training backed by funding
TVET focuses on skills that people can put to use immediately, whether in a workshop, on a construction site, in a service business or in their own enterprise. The programme brings trainees and accredited training centres into a single funded system, so that learners have access to instruction, facilities and tools.
The first payment tranche confirms that the programme has moved from enrolment into active delivery. Trainees are receiving support while they learn, and training centres are funded to provide the instruction and equipment practical learning requires.
A pathway into work and enterprise
Vocational training gives young Nigerians a marketable capability. Graduates can seek employment, grow an existing trade or start a business of their own. Hands-on instruction and time to practise turn training into real competence.
TVET connects education with economic participation. By financing both learners and the institutions that train them, the Tinubu administration is building a skilled workforce for Nigeria's growing economy and opening practical routes to jobs and self-employment for thousands of young people.
